Shipping Directly From Vendor to Customer Without Touching Inventory
Product: FeneVision CORE Module: Route Maintenance Audience: Shipping, Purchasing
Overview
Vendor Drop Ship Routes allow purchased goods to be shipped directly from the vendor to the end customer, bypassing your warehouse entirely. FeneVision automatically generates and populates a Vendor Route once the purchase order is received, simplifying the process and reducing handling time.
How It Works
When a Drop Ship purchase order is received in Receipt Entry, FeneVision automatically creates a Vendor Route and assigns the order to it. The route is named after the vendor and accumulates drop-ship orders until it is processed. Processing the route locks it from further additions and makes it available for invoicing. If additional drop-ship POs are received after processing, a new Vendor Route is created for the same day with an incremented number.
Step by Step
- Create a Purchase Order and mark it as Drop Ship during PO generation or in Receipt Entry.
- Receive the PO in Receipt Entry — FeneVision auto-generates a Vendor Route.
- Navigate to Route Builder and select the Vendor Routes tab.
- Review the auto-generated route to confirm the correct orders are assigned.
- Select the route and choose Process to lock it and make it available for invoicing.
- Invoice the vendor route as normal after processing.
Key Rules / Things to Know
- Only entire purchased parts qualify — subassemblies will not be added to vendor routes.
- The PO must be explicitly marked as Drop Ship in PO Entry or Receipt Entry.
- Once a vendor route is processed, no additional orders can be added to it.
- The date format on vendor routes is controlled by the Shipping Routes setup screen.
- The sales order must contain a complete purchased part (not a partial or subassembly).
Tips
- Always mark the PO as Drop Ship at the time of generation to avoid manual corrections later.
- Check the Vendor Routes tab daily when drop-ship activity is high to process routes promptly.
- Coordinate with your vendor to confirm ship dates align with the route date FeneVision assigns.
