Ship Via
Setting Up and Assigning Shipping Carriers to Orders
Product: FeneVision CORE Module: Setup / Shipping Audience: Shipping, System Administrators
Overview
The Ship Via setup screen lets you define the list of preferred shipping methods available in FeneVision — such as company truck, third-party carriers, or customer will-call (walk-in) pickups. Once configured, these methods can be assigned to orders and routes to indicate how goods will reach the customer.
How It Works
Ship Via entries are created in Setup >> Shipping >> Ship Via. Each entry is a text description of a shipping method. One key flag is the Walk-In indicator, which marks a method as a customer pickup rather than a delivery. Walk-in methods affect how orders are processed in Route Maintenance — orders marked Walk-In may not require route assignment.
Step by Step
- Add a shipping method: Navigate to Setup >> Shipping >> Ship Via. Click inside the next empty field and type the name of the shipping method.
- Mark as Walk-In: Check the Walk-In checkbox on the row to indicate that this method represents a customer pickup.
- Edit an existing method: Double click the field to edit it in place.
- Delete a method: Highlight the row and press Delete on the keyboard.
- Save and close — the method is now available for selection on orders and routes.
Tips
- Keep Ship Via names clear and consistent (e.g., 'Company Truck', 'UPS Ground', 'Customer Pickup') to reduce order entry errors.
- Create a dedicated Walk-In method for will-call customers so shipping can distinguish pickups from deliveries at a glance.
