Eliminating Daily Manual Route Building
Product: FeneVision CORE Module: Route Maintenance Audience: Shipping Coordinators
Overview
Auto Routes in FeneVision automatically generate and populate delivery routes based on each order's Shipping Route and Target Ship Date. This eliminates the need for shipping coordinators to manually assign orders to routes every day, saving time and reducing the risk of missed shipments.
How It Works
When an order with a Shipping Route and Target Ship Date is entered, FeneVision automatically creates or adds it to the matching Auto Route. Auto Routes remain editable until they are Processed. Processing converts an Auto Route into a manual route, assigns stop numbers, and makes it available for editing and release in FeneVision Trucking. Once processed, the route appears in the Unshipped Routes filter and follows the normal ship/release workflow.
Step by Step
- Ensure orders have a Shipping Route and Target Ship Date assigned in Order Entry.
- Open Route Builder in Route Maintenance.
- Select the Auto Routes filter in the route type drop-down.
- Highlight one or more Auto Routes to review.
- Right click the route and select Open to verify the orders assigned to it.
- Close the route, re-highlight it, and select Process from the action buttons.
- Confirm with OK — the route moves to the Unshipped Routes filter for release.
Key Rules / Things to Know
- Orders must have both a Shipping Route and a Target Ship Date to be auto-routed.
- Parts marked as Ship Separately are auto-routed together with the main ordered part.
- Once processed, an Auto Route becomes a standard manual route — auto-population stops.
- Auto Routes are rebuilt nightly (or per schedule) — do not process them too far in advance.
