Related Orders
Tracing the Full Lineage of a Copied or Quoted Order
Product: FeneVision CORE Module: Order Entry Audience: Order Entry Users
Overview
Related Orders gives you a complete view of every order connected to the one you are currently viewing—including the originating quote, subsequent copies, credit notes, and remake orders. This makes it easy to trace the full lifecycle of a job without manually searching for each linked order.
How It Works
FeneVision automatically creates relationships between orders when one is copied or derived from another (e.g. Quote → Order → Credit Note). These links are displayed in the Related Orders screen, accessible from the order ribbon. The screen lists all related orders with clickable links so you can jump directly to any of them in Order Entry. You can also manually add or remove relationships between any two orders.
Step by Step
- Step 1: Open the desired order in Order Entry.
- Step 2: Click Relations in the ribbon. If related orders exist, the link will appear active/highlighted.
- Step 3: The Related Orders screen opens listing all linked orders. Click any order link to open it in Order Entry.
- Step 4: To add a relationship manually—click Add (green + button), enter search criteria in the Find screen (e.g. customer name), click Find, highlight the order, and click Open.
- Step 5: To remove a relationship—click the Delete button (red cross) on the desired order line in the Related Orders screen.
⚠ When adding a relationship manually, FeneVision compares creation dates. Adding an order with a creation date earlier than the current order may trigger a warning.
Key Rules / Things to Know
- Relationships are created automatically when copying orders (Quote → Order, Order → Credit Note, etc.).
- Manual relationships can be added between any two orders using the Add button.
- FeneVision validates creation dates when linking orders and may warn you if the relationship seems chronologically inconsistent.
- Deleting a relationship only removes the link—it does not delete either order.
- The Related Orders screen is read-only for viewing; use the link to navigate to the related order for editing.
- Use for remake tracing: Remake orders are automatically linked—use Related Orders to quickly find the original job and its remake history.
